Welcome to the official Connections in Action blog! This is where we'll share updates about our group, upcoming events, community resources, and ways to get involved.

Connections in Action is a social group for adults with developmental disabilities who want to build meaningful, independent friendships. We offer opportunities to connect through Zoom calls, board game nights, community outings, and other social activities in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

As our group continues to grow, we'll post:

July 30, 2026 – Our First In-Person Meeting

Connections in Action was so excited to host our Bingo Night on August 27, 2026, at the North Olmsted Library! 🎉

After connecting through Zoom and meeting in person for our first Board Game Night, it was so nice to bring everyone together again! 😊 Our Bingo Night gave adults with developmental disabilities a chance to meet new people, play bingo, have conversations, laugh together, and continue building meaningful friendships in a welcoming and friendly environment. 💙

Thank you so much to everyone who came out and helped make our Bingo Night such a fun evening! 💙 We’re excited to keep growing Connections in Action and creating more opportunities for everyone to connect, socialize, have fun, and build meaningful friendships. 😊

🎉 Bingo Night Was a Blast! 🎉

On Thursday, August 27th, Connections in Action had an awesome evening at our Bingo Night at the North Olmsted Library! 🏆🎲

We had a great time playing bingo, laughing together, cheering each other on, and enjoying each other’s company! 😊🎉 There were lots of smiles, excitement, and some friendly competition throughout the night! 🙌

But Bingo Night was about more than just winning prizes. ❤️ It was a chance to meet new people, make connections, spend time with friends, and have fun together.

We loved seeing everyone participating and enjoying the evening! 🥳 Events like this are exactly why we created Connections in Action — to give adults with developmental disabilities opportunities to get together, build friendships, and feel like they belong. 🤝💙

We’ll have different creative activities to enjoy, and there’s no pressure to make anything perfect. The goal is to have fun, meet people, and create connections. 💜

Do you love Cedar Point and enjoy talking about the park, rides, and everything that makes it fun? 🎢😊

Connections in Action is creating a Cedar Point Interest List for adults 18 and older with developmental disabilities who would like to connect with other people who share an interest in Cedar Point.

Maybe you love the roller coasters 🎢, enjoy the shows and attractions 🎭, or simply like spending time at the park with others. Whatever you enjoy about Cedar Point, we want to hear from you!

🤝 Why Join the Interest List?

One of the goals of Connections in Action is to help adults with developmental disabilities meet new people, build friendships, and connect with others who share similar interests.

By filling out our Cedar Point Interest Form, you can let us know that you’d be interested in connecting with other Cedar Point fans through Connections in Action.

This could be a great way to discover that someone else enjoys the same rides, attractions, or experiences that you do! 🎢💜

This is not an RSVP for a specific Cedar Point trip or event. We are simply trying to find out how many people are interested in connecting with others who enjoy Cedar Point.

If there is enough interest, we can look at possible ways for people to connect in the future.

Thank you so much to everyone who joined us for our Connections in Action All-Inclusive Arts & Crafts Night at the North Olmsted Branch Library! 🎨✂️💜 We had such a great time spending the evening together, getting creative, meeting new people, and enjoying some fun conversations! 😊

It was wonderful to see everyone working on their crafts, sharing ideas, talking with one another, and enjoying the evening together. 🖍️🎨✨ Whether you came ready to make something, meet someone new, or simply spend some time with others, we were so happy to have you there! 🤝💜

🌟 Our Goal: Creating Friendships 🌟

At Connections in Action, we want to help people meet new people, make friends, and build independent friendships. 😊 We believe everyone should have opportunities to connect with others, share interests, have fun, and develop friendships that can grow over time.

We know that making friends isn't always easy. Sometimes it can be hard to know where to meet people or how to get a conversation started. That's why we want to create fun and comfortable opportunities where people can come together, get to know one another, and discover the things they have in common. 🎨🎮🎬🎵

Sometimes a shared interest can be the perfect place to start! Whether it's arts and crafts, Cedar Point, games, music, movies, sports, or something completely different, we want to help people find others who enjoy the same things. ✨

Our goal isn't to make friendships happen overnight. We want to help create opportunities for people to meet and then help guide them along as friendships develop naturally. We hope that a conversation at an event, a shared hobby, or simply finding someone with similar interests can be the beginning of a meaningful friendship.

We also want Connections in Action to be a place where parents and caregivers can connect with one another, share experiences, and exchange helpful resources and ideas. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦💬

Most importantly, we want people to know that they don't have to feel alone when it comes to making friends. We are here to help create opportunities to connect, meet new people, and see where those connections can lead.

We’re excited to be planning our next Connections in Action activity — Speed Friends on Zoom! 💻😊

Speed Friends will give participants a chance to meet different people, have short conversations, answer fun questions, and get to know one another in a relaxed and welcoming setting. 🗣️✨

It’s a fun way to meet new people and discover shared interests, and you never know when a quick conversation might turn into a new friendship! 😊

🎉💻 Meet New People at Connections in Action Speed Friends! 💻🎉

Are you looking to meet new people, have some fun conversations, and maybe make a new friend? 😊

Connections in Action is excited to host Speed Friends on Zoom on Thursday, October 22, 2026, from 6:00–7:30 PM!

This free event is for adults 18+ with developmental disabilities who live in Northeast Ohio and is designed to give participants an opportunity to meet different people, talk about things they enjoy, and discover shared interests.

💬 What Is Speed Friends?

Speed Friends is a fun way to meet several people during one event. Participants will have short conversations with different people and answer fun questions that can help everyone get to know each other.

You might discover that you and someone else enjoy the same music, movies, sports, video games, crafts, restaurants, amusement parks, or other activities! 🎵🎬🎮🎨🎢

The goal is simply to create an opportunity to meet someone new and see if there may be a friendship connection.

🔢 How Does Matching Work?

Each participant will be given a number when they join the Zoom event.

After the event, we’ll ask participants which people they enjoyed talking with and would be interested in connecting with again.

If both people choose each other, they will be considered a match. Only then will each person be given the other person’s contact information so they can connect after the event.

🔒 Your privacy is important to us. If you do not match with someone, no contact information will be shared.

🌟 A Comfortable Way to Meet New People

We know that meeting new people can sometimes be difficult. Speed Friends gives participants a structured and relaxed way to start conversations without the pressure of having to figure out what to say or how to approach someone.

There’s no competition and no pressure to match with anyone. It’s simply an opportunity to talk, have fun, meet new people, and see where a connection might develop. 😊

Participants are also welcome to have a parent, guardian, caregiver, or support person assist them during the Zoom event if needed.
